Cornhole Game Tournament Rules

Tournament Rules and Format:
To ensure maximum fairness and equal opportunity to all participants, tournaments will be run using a combination of pool play and a seeded, double elimination championship bracketed tournament. Using this format, every contestant will be given the opportunity play a minimum of 6 matches against different opponents.

Pool Play - There will be eight (8) pools, randomly drawn, each consisting of approximately 8 players. Pool play will be of a round robin format. Each pool will be played on 4 designated courts for that pool.
It is critical that teams stay in the general area of their pool to ensure games are played in a timely manner to keep the tournament on schedule.

Championship Play - All 64 teams will advance to one of three or four double elimination bracketed tournaments. The bracket events will be seeded based upon the following ranking methodology from pool play: 1. Overall game record. 2. Net point differential (total points scored less total points scored against).   All brackets will offer cash prizes.

Rules - All tournament matches will be played to 21 points (win by two), using traditional cancellation scoring format. In cancellation scoring, in each inning after all 8 bags are thrown, the low score (bags on the board, and in the hole) is subtracted from the high score to determine points scored in that inning. Example: Thrower "A" has one bag in the hole (3 points), two on the board surface (2 points) and one bag off the board (zero points) for a total of 5 points. Thrower "B" has two in the hole (6 points) and two on the board (two points) for a total of 8 points. The score after this inning is Team B = 3, Team A = 0.

Only tournament provided bags and boards will be allowed in tournament play.
Court layout will be 30 feet, hole-to-hole (unless otherwise dictated by weather or at discretion of tournament officials) Games will be self scored by participants. Disputes will be resolved quickly by tournament officials.

**In order to offer the 6 game minimum, it is important that teams be ready and available at designated playing time. A maximum five minute delay will be allowed for any team not present at announcement of a game. No shows will result in a game forfeit (counted at score 21-0). Game or tournament forfeiture will be at sole discretion of tournament officials.
